This 6-week course teaches the fundamentals of yoga in a fun, accessible way suitable for absolute beginners or those with a little yoga experience who want a more solid understanding that enables them to deepen their practice.
Guided by experts – Yoga Teacher and Mahi studio owner John Sinclair, and Yoga Teacher and Movement Coach Brigid Costello – the course embraces all of the styles of yoga we teach at Mahi (including Hatha, Yin and Vinyasa flow) and will prepare students to step into our normal classes and practice yoga like a pro!
Each session will:
Break down the most common yoga postures (asana), making them accessible and safe for all body types.
Explain how the postures can be effective in building strength, balance and flexibility.
Introduce some of the classic yoga breathing techniques (pranayama) which help boost vitality, release stress and create calmness under pressure.
Explore the ‘mind-game’ of yoga practice – the simple techniques that turn the physical practice into a self-directed journey towards mental clarity, emotional resilience and greater self-knowledge.
As part of the course, you’ll get the opportunity to try out any two classes on the Mahi schedule.
